Apple Learning Series
The Apple Learning Series on iTunes U consists of fifteen courses that are self-paced tutorials designed to help educators learn foundational skills to effectively use Apple products and apps for teaching and learning. Each course provides basic skills coaching, tips for effective use, ideas for curriculum engagement, and an opportunity to practice and apply the skills learned in the course. You must have iTunes installed on your computer to access this training. At home, that's a free download. iTunes is already installed on your MacBook.
Apple Support - Mac Basics
Apple also has some great online resources for beginning Mac users, including special information for people switching from PC to Mac. Find all of that information (including videos and guided tours) here. There's also great information about the "parts" of your Mac (dock, mouse pointer, menu bar, spotlight, Finder, etc.) here. Don't forget, you can call Apple to get support anytime at 1.800.APL.CARE (1-800-275-2273). They will help with any problem you are having using the device, not just warranty issues.
Modern Lessons
The crew at Modern Lessons has some great, free online iPad classes, including "5 Powerful But Little-known Ways to Use Your iPad", "A Comprehensive Guide to the Apple iPad", "Integrating the iPad into the Classroom", "The Beginner's Guide to the Apple iPad" and "Introduction to the iPad in Education".
iLife Suite for Mac and iPad
The iLife Suite lets you manage and share photos using iPhoto, create and edit movies using iMovie, as well as record and edit music using Garageband. See what each of these powerful programs can do, plus learn the basics of each program, at this showcase site from Apple.
